Morning

Today has been a good morning.  I have been having such a lovely time recently and thoroughly relishing in the delights of summer holidays and being able to do whatever we liked and being as lazy as possible - WONDERFUL!

But after that joy, I have just had a rather efficient morning and as productivity is a rarity for me, it left me in a rather good mood.  Yesterday I made a doctor's appointment for today - something I had been putting off for a year.  Managed to sort a lot of things out there so that was a weight off my mind.  Then dropped off the prescription at Boswells (who knew?), dropped off drying cleaning, picked up prescription, spotted some nice handbags at Boswells potential for cousin's bday, txted ma photos, bought veg for dinner with friend tonight, chatted to ma re present, bought houmous for tea, walking out of covered market and spotted Michel's Creperie that hadn't seen before and despite only being 11.40 couldn't not buy a Mexican savoury crepe - wow - ; bought handbag, bought pita bread from not seen before tesco, then scurry home to eat crepe on bed watching West Wing.

Happy days.

A GPs waiting room poem that appealed to me.

Flood - a spectator sport

Who would think you could have such an enjoyable time watching a flood?

19/8 Oh my goodness!  Blog update! I added some photos to a post last night in the usual way and had the usual pang of  'uhh, this is time comsuming, can't I click on several at once?'.  Then this morning I come to add these photos and it's a new system and I added them all at once!!!!  Yay!

Was walking into town with friends on Saturday and we thought the clouds weren't looking great, and then it started to rain and in a matter of moments, absolutely pour!!  We took shelter in the pub vestibule on the opposite side of the road.  Soon there were mini white water rapids going down the road and look at the gushingly over flowing gutters:
Our dry retreat turned on us as water started leaking through the light fitting above.  It was all slightly hysterical!

Then came the ultimate form of entertainment.   We decided rain had lessened (probs about 20 mins later..) and we ventured out.  Just down the road from us was the bridge under the railway that had totally flooded up and so we started watching and it was addictive!!
Not so funnly for them, one car hadn't made it through and was stopped at the end of the flood - car on the right.

It was an amazingly entertaining time of cheering, clapping, gasps (check out the crazy cyclist!),  held breath, community spirit...

 It really made the afternoon!

Snake Bursts After Gobbling Gator

Fitting perfectly into the random tag category, I wanted to post a link to this that popped up again on the BBC news most read list this morning.  Haven't seen it there for probably over a year, not sure when I first came to it, but it's so incredible that I felt it was worth me including the link for posterity.  (the word posterity always makes me think of Pliny the Younger writing about Pliny the Elder in my Latin GCSE texts:  you ask that I write to you about the death of my Uncle that you may hand down a more accurate account to posterity.  He was at Misenum and in charge of the fleet himself... )

Quick Bite

Just wanted there to be a record that I can make pancakes.  I ate these last night and they were delicious - quite a contrast from last time (Sunday of Photo of the Year - week 10)

May - 23??????  Am sure it was 17 yesterday.  Well, I did go a little post crazy yesterday so that could be true.  I'm just amazed how it has shot up this month :-)

On another note.  I told someone else about my blog today.  Well, they actually asked me if I posted recipes and food photos on a blog, so I kinda had to say yes.  I was so surprised why they would say that.  I did confess though that I was the only one who read my blog!

update 17/6/10 And just as soon as you get cocky, it can all go wrong again!
seemingly perfection 6th June...
but 10th June...
Cut finger hacking open the corned beef after little key twisted off.
Gunky mixture in pan.
Still ate it though ;-)

Hydrogen Fuel Cell Car

This is ultimately random, but I just wanted to find a photo I'd had taken of me by a hydrogen fuel cell car for my teaching this this week.  Fortunately I find it (electronically) but wasn't sure if I would be able to so it made me keen to post it here for easy access in case I ever needed it again.

I'll hopefully fine time to elaborate on this post when the lesson planning is done.

Randomsy - late night

Been for an evening out with staff.  In bed now, and hoping that typing a few moments on here is going to tire me out enough to send me off to sleep.  I can still feel the drinks in my head- think I have had three or four glasses of wine.  It is a little tricky focussing on the words I am typing.  It was a jolly evening and I was pleased to go. I wasn't that nervous entering the restaurant which i think must show how comfortable I am starting to feel with these people.  I am definitely appreciative of them - they make the job so good!  I wonder what they think of me?  I generally don't give a lot of myself and I reckon it takes a long time for people to get to know me.  I don't think many of the staff do actually know me yet, whatever they may think.  Have plenty of pictures from tonight so will maybe try posting at another time.

Is this post really worth posting?  It doesn't seem to say much...

I am still really happy with the colours on the blog, though still not sure about the stretch setting?

Stars

I was walking to Marks and Spencers this evening and loved seeing Sirius up in the sky.  I assumed on first glance it must be a plane as there was a plane flying just by it so I didn't believe it could be a star in such close proximity but it was the main man!

Lots of happy thoughts upon seeing Sirius and thinking about stargazing from my bedroom back in Thornhill Road.

Randoms

I was just intending to write the word symbol in a maths plan for this week but I wrote simble instead. I knew it was wrong but took me a few seconds to work out just how wrong!!  isn't it strange how the brain works!

That's it really!
