Blog updates - quotations

I decided it was time to change the snow picture as the heading, seeing as it has been springtime for so long.  I decided to put a picture of me trampolining up, which when taken in Derbyshire I had thought 'profile picture' for facebook.  And I have consequently spent some time trying sort it so that the sizing is right.  But writing this now, I have thought maybe it might be a nicer idea to put a picture of some flowers.  I take a lot of them but then don't really know what to do with them!  The truth is, I like there to be a picture of me because I am quite vain, but I don't want to appear egotistical and so I have chosen photos where I am not full in the face.  But this one is pretty much just me!  So I reckon I will see how I like looking at it and change it to a flower if necessary.

The trampolining picture is a portrait size one and so not ideal for a banner.  I have added the blue background to make it fit in the space.  But then the blue background left it looking a little empty so I decided to add some writing to the edges - but what to add?  Ideas that initially came were along the lines of:  Sky’s the limit.  Jump.  Reach for the sky.  Leaping locomotives.

Back at home tonight I have looked at the books on my bedside table that I acquired from Lizzie when she was having a clear out a while back.  I ashamedly really like inspirational sayings, and am one of the people who can stand for ages in a gift shop looking at the fridge magnets with quirky phrases on.   I know must people think they are gushing and sentimental but i like them!

Here are a few that I wondered about for the blog:

Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.  Confucius (551-479 BC)  I have this one up in my classroom.

Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspiration.  I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead. Louisa May Alcott (1832-1888) Adds special appeal to me as she is the writer of Little Women.

We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life when all that we need to make us really happy is something to be enthusiastic about. Charles Kingsley (1819-1875) This has nothing to do with trampolining, but it just seemed to suit me, which is when I decided writing a post about quotations would be a good place to keep them!

21/5/11  So I have spent about an hour of this Saturday morning trying to get the heading picture how I would like it and am just about prepared to settle as it is now.  Having written the above, I then went and had a shower and found the 'Ain't it a glorious day' quote written in crayon in my shower and decided that's what I wanted on the blog.  Not about leaping, but the colour and atmosphere of the day suited, even if it wasn't May!  So this morning I have learnt how to make a text box rotate and crop a picture elliptically in preview. I came to edit this post to put the updated photo on, but reading the quotes, decided I would really like the first two on there so am going to try add them as text
