Yesterday we went to see the fireworks. Some rumour said that they were starting at 6.30 so thats when we got there. Ended up standing waiting for an hour till they started. But it was ok as had brought popcorn with us in the cereal box!
The fireworks were good. Lots of the sort I really like where they go high in the air and spread out really big with a big bang. After the fireworks they lit the wicker person and then the bonfire.
When the bonfire was lit, some people in front of us started to make their way out through the crowds and I suggested we follow them, but we waited a bit longer. Then I said, I'm going to have to stretch my legs or I might faint. Next thing I know I can hear some noise which I gradually realise is the bonfire and I open my eyes to find all these eyes looking at me. I have fainted and am lying on the grass ground. I knew I was still feeling queasy so took it easy just lying there. Someone asked me to talk so eventually I said 'what would you like me to say?' I was confused how everyone had managed to move out the way for me to lie down, and also just generally embarrassed! The lady asking me questions appeared to have some medical training and took control of the situation. Eventually I sat up and then stood up and walked away from the crowds. John managed to buy a muffin for me. We then stopped off for hot chocolate and then home for fish and chips.
So, that was a more unusual faint for me. It wasn't the first time, but previously I had fainted twice after giving blood, and one in Elmina female slave dungeon. Was it just the fact that I had been standing still for a long time?
Oh well, these fireworks will be remembered!
