What good is sitting alone in your room?...

Had a trip to the theatre tonight:  Mad about the musicals - enjoyed :-)  am going to bullet point as it then feels like I will be writing less and it will encourage me to do it!  slightly expanded bullet points 15/5

  • Think it was about 5th or 6th musical medley show i've been too (others include
  1. best of broadway - Royal Albert Hall, Autumn 2008
  2. something in Southampton at the Mayflower Theatre, February 2009, with Daniel Boys
  3. Beyond the barricades - Malvern Theatre, Christmas about 2006
  4. Magic of the Musicals, Oxford New Theatre, October 2007
  5. am fairly sure there were 2 previous ones in Oxford.  One had wayne sleep in and one didn't.  One i think i sat on the right of the circle and one to the left.  Can't be total certain though.
  6. I did see Michael Ball back in September 2009 in Oxford, kinda counts..
  • usherette looked at my ticket for a long time and then said she would move me as there weren't very full and the was a man next to my seat with body odour!  It was desperately empty, feel so bad for performers.
  • audience would have been even smaller, but for the fact that a local (presumably) youth dance group performed 2 numbers with about 15 kids so they all had families in the audience.  They did Food Glorious Food from Oliver pretty well, then Chitty Chitty Bang Bang not quite as slick.
  • four musicians on stage.  musical director on key boards was well into it - had slightly shaggy hair which bounced up and down with his head banging!  Also a second key boarder, a bassist and a drummer in the middle.
  • 5 singers, one of the two men reminded me greatly of Kurt from Glee!
  • opened show with 'Comedy Tonight' - totally agree that that's a great number to open with.  Mum and I saw a Funny Thing happened of the way to the Forum at the National Theatre (pretty sure Olivier) as a kinda filler while Lizzie was seeing something at the Globe.  Neither of us had any idea about it but I rather enjoyed.
  • did a good selection of songs, often choosing lesser known ones from the big ones - eg masquerade and somehow here again from phantom. And For Good form Wicked - sent shivers through me, love that feeling, though don't know if it was because the AC was on and there were so few of us in there.  Then Les Mis was Turning, Javert's Soliloquy, then I dreamed a dream so wonderful, and finale-ing with One More Day worked ok with just 5 singers.
  • interested to find out more about 14G - performed in a dressing gown - wondered if it could be me.
  • they danced as well which i think is a plus :-)
  • title is from Cabaret which was performed.  Think it speaks well of me as that is how I spend a lot of my time :-)
Outfit I wore.  Love it but rarely have an opportunity to wear it.  Thought this extravaganza was appropriate.
