Trip to the Bluebell Woods

On Sunday 9th May I was taken for a country walk to where I shall probably forever call the Bluebell Woods. (have looked it up and it was Cowleaze Woods)  I didn't know there were going to be bluebells so it was a real bonus to discover them.  Have heard talk of this bluebell phenomenon before and think have tried to go see them, but not memorably made it before, especially not since I've been doing my flower diary.

Although it was quite late in the afternoon, they were still looking good.  I don't think they are actually a particularly nice flower individually but I totally love the carpet effect.  Actually maybe carpet isn't such a good word as river as it kinda looks like water.  I think being hyper-critical, the flowers are slightly too purple for my ideal.

Also it's a hot spot area for red kites.  Knew it that that stretch of the M40 was known for birds of prey and have assumed I've seen some when a big bird has hovered overhead.  There were notices on the walk saying that there were red kites and as we emerged from the woods and looked out over a field we saw three swooping about.  It was very exciting!!  (honestly they're in the photos!)

Also I spotted some blossom in a village we tried to eat at.  This is some of my favourite type of blossom - real full.  This is what I would like to get married under :-)
